Haringey SEND school travel assistance 2026–27: who needed to reapply

Haringey asked families to apply by 10 July 2026. Who had to apply or reapply, what happens to late applications, and how to prepare for next year.

In June 2026 Haringey Council opened applications for SEND school travel assistance for the 2026–27 school year, asking families to apply by Friday 10 July 2026.

Who had to apply

  • Families applying for SEND school travel assistance for the first time
  • Families already getting help whose child's needs had changed, who had moved address or changed school
  • Children moving from nursery to primary or primary to secondary
  • Young people aged 16 or over, whether changing school or college or staying where they are

Late applications

Haringey still considers late applications, but warned that travel may not be arranged in time for the start of the school year. If you missed the deadline, apply as soon as you can.

Other changes

  • Haringey now sends travel arrangement details by email rather than post. Families who wanted post had to tell the Transport team by 26 July 2026.
  • If you live outside Haringey, apply to the borough you live in, even if the school is in Haringey.

Planning for 2027–28

Haringey's deadline was in early July this year. Expect a similar window next summer, and apply as soon as your child's school or college place is confirmed. Contact the Transport team on [email protected] or 020 8489 5629. See our step-by-step guide to applying in Haringey.
