When a child travels alone
Some children with SEND find shared journeys too overwhelming, need extra support or medical care on the way, or have needs that make sharing unsafe. A single-occupancy journey gives them a calm space, the same people every day, and a journey built entirely around them.
What's included
- A vehicle for one child, including wheelchair-accessible options
- A fixed driver and a trained passenger assistant
- The child's pupil passport followed on every journey
- A meeting with the family before the first journey
- Text alerts at pick-up and handover
Who arranges it
Councils arrange single-occupancy journeys for eligible children. Families with a personal travel budget can also book them directly with us.
