Who can get help
Haringey Council's School Travel Assistance covers children and young people aged 5 to 25 with special educational needs and disabilities who are in education. Eligibility depends on the criteria in Haringey's school travel assistance policy.
How to apply
- Read the eligibility and application process on Haringey's SEND Local Offer.
- Apply as soon as your child's school or college place is confirmed. Haringey has set application deadlines in past years for a September start, so check the current date early.
- Include evidence of your child's needs, such as the EHC plan.
- For questions, contact Haringey's school transport team on [email protected] or 020 8489 5629.
What help you might be offered
- Council managed transport: a place on a route the council arranges, usually a minibus with a driver and passenger assistant
- A personal travel budget: money to arrange your child's travel yourself
- Independent traveller training: help for young people to learn to travel on their own
If you disagree with the decision
Councils in England follow a two-stage review process: ask for a stage one review in writing, usually within 20 working days, then ask for an independent appeal panel. Haringey's decision letter will give its exact deadlines.
